Let us introduce ourselves. We are Rick and Mary Phillips. My husband Rick and I have been raising dogs for over 15 yrs., and have loved every minute of it. We consider our dogs (each German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Yorkie, & Poo), as part of our family, along with 2 cats, 3 ponies, and 1 rabbit.
Our German Shepherds
Twenty three yrs. ago, we got our first German Shepherds. After many enjoyable yrs. with them, we decided we would like to put some good quality pups on the ground. We researched the breed until we finally decided what we wanted to get out of them, and what kind of pups we wanted to put into the world. We searched for quite a long time before we found our first 2 breedable Shepherds. From there we continued to learn about the breed & did extensive searching to find female Shepherds, that fit into our program. They have to have good ball drive, great temperment, and health wise, they have to be in perfect health, with parents being AKC, OFA'd, certified. During our first 6 yrs. we had several wonderful Shepherds, that enriched our lives and the life of our daughter. She always had a dog or puppy that wanted to play, or have a big hug from her. She couldn't walk on the farm without having 2-4 dogs tagging along behind. (Looked like they were playing follow the leader.) Our daughter became very attached to our top female, Brandy, to the point that the dog became her personal shadow and guardian. They spent many a morn, and evening watching the sun, from up in a tree fort. This female along with the others that we had, produced some of the most awesome babies I had ever seen. Many have gone on to be top dogs in Police K-9, Search & Rescue, even helping the handicapped. We are very proud of all our babies.
Unfortunitly, the year 2001 was a very heart tearing time for us. We lost our big beautiful stud dog, Shadow, to cancer, and our wonderful top dog, Brandy passed away.
We feel the legacy that Brandy left, will go on, and her off spring will continue to do wonderful things, and be a JOY IN MANY PEOPLES LIVES.
At this time we have another wonderful female, named UTA, (she is solid black and comes from German lines). She has a pedigree a mile long, and a folder of info 1/2 inch thick to go with each puppy, about their lineage. This female has a heart of gold. She is great with children, and will play for hours like a big old teddy bear. But, she will snap to attention on command and knows that it is time for serious work. She will only be bred to top working males with pedigrees to match or surpass her own. She has the excellent health and temperment we like to pass on to her pups.
Our Golden Retrievers
We started raising Goldens about 4 yrs. ago. Rick had always loved this breed of dog, so we decided to try a female, with a good temperment and health, that we found from a reputable breeder. She immediatly found her cushion in the house and claimed it for her own. The disposition of the Goldens is awesome. They love everyone in the family 110% and our female is the champion of the "GOLDEN LEAN". She will lean against you from 4 ft. away if possible. They can even stretch their necks seemingly from behind a chair to the front, if you are within touching distance. They strive to do everything you ask of them, and will fetch a ball from morn till nite. Our wonderful girl, Belle, has certainly filled a void in our daughters life, and is a joy to be around. After the age of 2, Belle gave us a beautiful litter of pups just like herself.
We also have a new male Golden, named Magnum, that feels everyone needs to have their hands and face cleaned, and he is just the one to do it. This boy is our class clown. He also comes from good working lines, and loves to fetch the ball, till he can hide it from you and maybe bury it.
Both Belle and Magnum have the rich Gold, (medium) color. With their wonderful temperments and beautiful coloring, we are hoping that their off spring will be spitting images of their parents. Magnum will be available for stud work in approx April of 2004.
Our Yorkie Poos
After many yrs. with big dogs, that are intertwined with our everyday lives, I decided I wanted a small dog to sit on my lap that did not weigh over 90Lbs. We then found our little 2 lb. Trixie. A Yorkie-poo. At 3 months she was just a fluff ball. She was so small, a good gust of wind could have blown her away. By 4 months she could almost keep up with the big dogs as they all ran in the fields. Her only problem was sometimes that darn old tall grass was so strong it would throw her right back out as she tried to run in it. Trixie comes from a toy poodle mother and a yorkie father. She weighs 6 lbs. and is a bundle of energy. Her coloring is Champaign, but it changes from season to season, with a bit of tan and a lot of silver highlight. Yorkie poos have a great desire to be very close to you and will snuggle right up against you at night. (Good bed warmers). We now have her daughter, Snoopy, from the first litter and she is a Black/ Tan 5lb. She has just given us a litter of bouncing little pups. Snoopy has curlier hair than her mother, and should have the name "MOMS Shadow!" Both Trixie and Snoopy have been great with their pups, and seem to instill into the pups the same attitude towards people that they have.
Our newest arrival is an AKC. Black/Tan/ Silver, Yorkie male, named Tygo, approx. 5 lb. He thinks he should just be king of the house and that you should feel he is the cutest little thing you have ever seen (Well, he is, but we don't want it to go to his head!). He will be the stud for the yorkie poo females we have, and would probably love to do stud work for someone who has a female Yorkie that would like to have a litter.
(Yorkies and Yorkie poos do not shed, so you should plan on either grooming them your self or taking them to a groomer and have them clipped.)
